It's a good stance for the club to take. Sends a good message out to the players. The time for coasting at the club is over otherwise you won't be here.

Agree it is the correct stance to take, we have wanted brutal decision making at this club for some time and it appears we now have it. Plenty of rumours flying round today as to Abdulls situation, some paint him in a bad light, other pass blame on to previous employers. I suppose we will never truly know the full ins and outs.
It would be interesting to know if Myler was behind the signing of Abdull, or if plans for him to join where in place prior to Mylers arrival. I do hope it was the latter.

Surely the Brutal decision making, in this case (without knowing all of the ins and outs) being get an injury and we will just get rid of you, might have an effect on your reputation as a club when players are looking at where to sign? If I was a player, it would certainly put me off.

As you say you don't know the ins and outs. I don't wish injury on any player but you may also regret signing an half back who spends most of the season sat in the stands.
We announced Abdul had signed on 5th June and Cartwright's appointment on 21st May.
So only 2 weeks prior so it might be the deal was already in progress but we don't always announce signings straight away so it could have been already in the bag.
We also need to consider that the takeover wasn't a done deal back then, signings may have been on the frugal side (Abdull had cap exemptions) than now where we have lots of money in the bank.

Myler expressed delight at the signing back in June. Although he was looking forward to seeing him partner with Trueman at the time, with Morgan Smith being noted as another hb option. 6 months is a long time in RL, I guess.
It’s certainly an odd one. Abdull had 2 years to run on his Rovers contract and mentioned he’d had the option of another year in France when he agreed to join Hull, in a recent interview with Tomlinson. I can’t imagine he’d have taken a contract massively loaded in Hull’s favour in those circumstances. However, if it is a biggish pay-off then surely there’s a case for just de-registering and seeing how the land lies later in the year… unless there’s something else. Nothing on the Hull FC website when I checked a little earlier but i imagine it’ll be one of those very brief ‘released, wish him well’ ones, anyway.
