2025 Castleford Tigers : Tue Dec 31, 2024 2:28 pm
2025 Castleford TigersThe 2025 season will be the Castleford Tigers' 100th season in the Rugby Football League and their 18th consecutive season in the top flight of English rugby league.
This will be Castleford's first season under Danny McGuire as head coach, and the team will be captained by Sam Wood.
2024 Season Review
Under the stewardship of Craig Lingard, Castleford elected to cut their cloth accordingly and concentrated on obtaining a Grade A license, rather than fielding a competitive team on the field. The squad that finished the 2024 season fell well under the salary cap and that will be the starting point for the 2025 season.
The IMG Grade A license was achieved and with new Head Coach Danny McGuire, Castleford will be looking to improve on a 10th place finish, 9 points comfortably above the bottom two Hull FC and London Broncos.

Transfer Analysis
Castleford have lost some experience in the shape of Paul McShane and Jacob Miller, with the former being a recipient of the Man of Steel award in 2020 and Jacob Miller never quite recapturing his form from his Wakefield days.
Danny Richardson’s career has been on the slide since the glory days of running out in the Red Vee and being named in the Dream Team of 2018. He has surprised many by rocking up at Craven Park and at 28 he will be firmly in the 2nd string at Hull KR. Jack Broadbent will be a loss to Castleford and he was already showing signs of replacing Oliver Gildart as the Robins left edge Centre. Elie El-Zakem was one of the bright spots at Castleford last season along with the mid-season capture of Tex Hoy. El-Zakem will sadly be missed after returning back to Oz suffering with homesickness.
The Senior Twins, joined Castleford on loan last season and Innes had a successful season with a personal haul of 17 tries. The crux of Castleford’s season lies with the four overseas players Cini, Asi, Rimbu, and Simbiken. The Tiger’s had issues with creativity and much rests on the shoulders of Daejarn Asi, a halfback who spent the last 2 years with Parramatta Eels.
Judah Rimbu and Jeremiah Simbiken, both native PNG forwards, have been drafted in to strengthen a lacklustre forward pack.
2025 Predictions
Castleford have failed to invest heavily on a revamped team, and with a rookie Head Coach, I predict a large amount of pain for Tigers fans. Hull FC and Wakefield are likely to exert more pressure at the bottom end of the table with a 12th Place for Castleford being the likely result.
