This first name/nickname for certain club's players is laughable in the media, and pundits in general
Scotty Harry Lamps Stevie G Giggsy/Scholsey
USE THEIR SURNAMES, JUST LIKE YOU DO FOR OTHER CLUBS
nothing's changed over the years - certain players have had nicknames when it suited like the THFC of the late 60s had Gilly,Greavsie,Jonesy,Bealy,Mullers,Venners et al. plus the manager Billy Nic
it's not a new thing, just a familiarity with the players by the fans and the media of course - where's the problem ?
completely agree with your Wilkins criticism though Alan Smith is ten times worse IMO - he's like the Phil Clarke of football, anything to do with the Gooners is ok...
Dalglish crying was a tad cringeworthy and embarassing though. If they had won the league I'd understand, but getting through and probably winning a minor trophy isn't that great an achievment. Still not doing a great job there. Wasted alot of money and average in the league.
Just goes to show how much he loves the club. I've criticised Dalglish at times this season, partiucally at the weekend, but he is definitley due some credit. Under Hodgson we were an embarrassment, at one point we weren't far of the relegation zone, knocked out of the cup by Northampton, poor performances etc. In just over a year Dalglish has come in; sold half of the squad, replaced them with new faces, and we sit 6 points of 4th with 48 points left to play for and we're in our first final for 6 years, whilst I agree we payed well over the odds for Hendo, Downing and Carroll, Dalglish and Steve Clarke desvere credit for what they have done in the past year. We're a work in progress, we've basically brought in half a new squad, it's not going to happen over night, all I ask for is improvement year-on-year, we are definitley doing that and are heading in the right direction.

thought Bellamy was superb last night - if only the other players could follow his example & attitude !
did you see the three ex players sitting together in the crowd ? - Thompson,Rush & Hanson,
just imagine what they would be worth on todays market ?

Agreed, if only all of them manged to play like Bellamy does everytime he starts. He's been great for us all season, his movement is outstanding, he has pace and he isn't bad on the ball either. He was beyond excellent. Class.

Bellamy has always been a good player, just seems to have a rep for being a bit of a tw&t to get on with.

When you see Bellamy, you look on with hindsight and think "my word, if Liverpool kept him and never signed Ryan Babel, they may have won it in '09". I'm really pleased with Bellamy, especially when I consider I was largely against signing him because I thought he was finished and wouldn't offer us much after this season. He may not offer us too much in terms of the future, but his impact has been brilliant this year, if he and Suarez can play together for the rest of the season, we may make a better push for 4th. Rumours are we're after David Texeira, little is known of him but he's apparently short, stocky and quick, fingers crossed he has the desire of Suarez and Bellamy, who seemingly bully defenders without being 6ft+.

the thing about Bellamy is he is a fighter and never gives up - his attitude is immense which usually gets him in bovver with the officials he's like a terrier who never stops nagging away and never gives up - he's still a legend at Carrow Road and probably everywhere he's been I just admire his attitude win or lose,he always gives 110% which every fan expects of their players can't think of many players with a consistently high work-rate ? maybe Beckham or Parker ?
