WIGAN RLFC IS MORE THAN A RUGBY CLUB - IT'S A RELIGION
There will always be a Wigan Warriors no matter what the bitter & twisted blues say

Travel to Murrayfield : Tue Mar 17, 2009 6:23 pm
How is everybody getting up to Edinburgh in May, I was thinking of catching the train on the saturday but the timetable states is showing several changes & the journey time is about 4/5 hrs at least.

I would think with lots of fans from the north west going they might just put on direct " special trains" just for the rugby fans.

Thoughts everyone?

Still lots of weekend engineering going on although if you look at the Virgin Train ads they say that a lot more trains are running at the weekend it is rubbish. I was looking to go north on Easter Saturday, bus from Wigan to Preston then train. Two and a half hours to get to Carlisle, pathetic and not Virgins fault all down to Railtracks over running engineering work.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions

Quote from Graham Lowe - "I'm 49, I've had a brain haemorrhage and a tripple bypass and I could still go out and play a reasonable game of rugby union ......... but I wouldn't last 30 seconds in rugby league!"

Going up by car, setting off about 6am. We're staying over Saturday night at the premmier inn at Falkirk North, so driving up to Falkirk and parking up on the premmier inn car park, hopefully by about 10ish. Taxi to Falkirk station and train in to Edinburgh. Sorted! :thumb:

Should be there for around 11am, with any luck, ready for a few beers :DRUNK:

Me and my girls are going up on the train on the Friday, have to change in Carlisle, back on the Monday. Not sure about the times or journey length.

Works between Carlisle and Edinburgh are ended by the 16th May as well after looking at times yesterday for a Hibs game that weekend.

A purple patch inspired on his home ground by man of the match WIGAN CAPTAIN Sean O’Loughlin produced three tries in an eight-minute spell just before half-time, and the GB Lions added two more after the break to maintain Smith’s 100 per cent record as Great Britain
coach.

Sat 27th April 2002 St Helens 12 Wigan 21 Edinburgh - Sat 4th May 2002 Celtic 2 Rangers 3 Glasgow (Carlsberg dont do weeks, but if they did.....)

Oh Please :?

Take a return train trip to dunfermline/Kircaldy over the bridge, fascinating if you havent done it before. Better than spending a day watchin the Leith windy lickers :thumb:

To get up to Edinburgh on the Saturday 2nd May you have to go via York, which takes about 4.5 - 5 hrs or something nuts like that. Great planning there, several thousand North West folk can't use the train to get to Edinburgh!

Think you can get back to Wigan though on Monday 4th.
