Looking at his Wiki page, if we signed him, most people on this site would be up in arms.

He could well end up being a diamond, but I'd be surprised if he was the pedigree most on here are after.

I agree with ninearches and what he's saying, we'll sign 1 quality player then a bunch of players seemingly scraped from whoevers available.

I actually think Charnley is a bit underrated. I put him in the category of guys like Ryan Hall or Chris Hicks - these guys are just high calibre at doing what a winger is supposed to do.

Some of the wingers who are more exciting and get more hype come with bad sides to their game and can be exploited. It's good to have someone with real quality. You can tell by the way he went over to union and came back and went back to being a top RL winger from the moment he returned, as though he'd never been away. There have been many outside backs in the past who have gone over to RU, failed there and then come back and found that RL has left them behind too.

Exactly. He is one of the few top quality players we have with Ratchford, Austin, Hill, Widdop, D Clark, Cooper, Lineham and he is woefully under utilised. He would score 25+ a season if used right.

Doesn’t fill you with confidence does it? Tasi had already signed this time last year and we already knew the squad in place for the next season.

Currently, question marks still remain around certain players as to whether they will be here (Patton) & we are linked with several different props but nothing concrete yet. The guessing game is getting a bit tedious now..

If he's adding to and not replacing Thompson, Walmsley, Amor, Lees or Ashworth it hardly matters. But if they stay and Lees is fit, we'd have a scary lineup if the new boy turned out to be okay. I haven't got a clue if it is him or if it's even true by the way, it's just the rumour that came out of the post-GF celebration that Holbrook and McManus attended. The thing in our favour is that our new coach has coached Tonga for a couple of years and has apparently recommended the signing, so the rumour goes. It could be a similar signing to Dom Peyroux who came over with no reputation or hype, on a recommendation from Sean Long who coached him with Samoa, but who has developed into a player I genuinenly wouldn't swap for any other backrower in Super League. Could also be a dud given his injury record and lack of NRL appearances.
