Thanks a bunch we got rid. I'm not surprised he's not getting in, he ain't good enough period, by far the most over-rated player to come through our ranks in my opinion, i couldn't believe Saints decided to buy him, however there's been raised eyebrows with Saints's recruitment this year with Fages and Owens, Tasi doesn't seem to be the same player however he''ll probably come good at some point he was solid for us.

Please explain in what way Theo Fages was overrated. Can you deny that he was skilful, brave, supremely fit, willing to learn from others,a team man,and up till the final couple of months, proud to play for our club. Just saying you didn't rate him would suffice!
I have to agree with Flat Stanley on this. I thought he was overrated by a lot of our fans. You cant say he was proud to play for our club especially when he refuses to play for us when we needed to do well in the middle 8's. He would only do one good play during the game then he will hide. His kicking was awful. I dont miss him
Was thinking just the same about Theo last night. Despite the issues at Salford last season it felt like the wrong move for him and that his agent and Long coach had turned his head in their interests rather than his. Classic case of bad advice to a young player
I actually think he would have suited our style of play well this year. With Lee, Dobbo and GOB controlling the play it would have taken the pressure of unlike last year was he was either with Chase or the only recognised half who was fit/not suspended for significant chunks. He isn't a half who will control a game, he's more of a running half. He could have developed well rather than sitting on the side lines watching Saints. He's not better than anyone we have here but he could have done a similar job to Lui I think.
That said he's got the right attitude to succeed at Saints if he gets the chance. He's a hard worker who's willing to learn and a good team player. It's early days yet.

he was also under rated by a lot of our fans. His kicking game needed to improve but we've had far worse kickers at the club. He wasn't noticeably worse than seasoned pros Chase and Smith for instance. Myler? Ratchford? Holdsworth? All decent kickers but were consistently a lot better than Fages
For some reason last year it seemed most fans felt they had to choose a side and Theo had to be the worst player ever or the clubs saviour. Truth is he was a promising young player who had really good moments and not so good moments like most young players. He was consistently above average in my opinion which is good for one of our academy products. He came into the team as it was imploding off the pitch and with a group of big headed 'stars' who thought they were good enough to just turn up and win. Or didn't seem to care if they won or not at times. That's a difficult position for a young half back and he coped with it pretty well
Gutted at the way he ended his time with us but not as bad as some and I think he was badly advised

Sorry but his skilful attribute you refer Fages too evades me. ( Care to elaborate his skill factors) because the fundamental ball playing creativity what i witnessed was poor. You refer to his braveness ( yes he was brave, i'm not disputing ) stamina ( yes he has stamina i'm not disputing ), willingness to learn ( he was keen, i'm not disputing) a team man who was proud ( I'm not disputing ). Well if thats your definition of a model professional Rugby League player being Brave, fit, willingness to learn, a team man, who is proud you're describing 99% of most sportsman forget Rugby League.
Creativity is an half back's bread and butter. Fages struggled to create tries or gaps for runners on the burst. He dummied far to much, he never broke tackles, hardly beat a man, average sidestep, poor reading of a game, game leadership was poor, kicking game was atrocious. However he was good at backing up..So your basis of attributes that refers to Fages are quite simply ten a penny. Sorry.
The fact is that he was overrated by the fans who liked him,and underrated by those who didn't. I see a decent player who could develop massively, but one whose career could stall. He's at that age, really. It's odd that he's not being played by Cunningham. Otherwise, we'll know in the next couple of seasons just how well he develops. My guess, for what it's worth,is that he won't make it big at a top 6 club, but I'm just as likely to be wrong !

I think Theo has the ability to be a very good HB. He is certainly not the finished article by a long shot, and he appears to be sinking into obscurity at Saints at the moment, which will do him no good. A lot of people seem to pick him apart on these boards, both his good and bad attributes. He's still very young with a lot to learn, and I think a really good coach could really bring him on leaps and bounds. He's not getting that and it will only hinder him in the long run. I didn't think he was the best thing since sliced bread or the worst HB I've ever seen either. We've not missed him in the same way that we've not missed Chase, so wont lose any sleep.
