are we too predictable?. it must be very easy for coaches to plan tacticts to combat our "attack".
starting with kick-offs, nine times i believe we kicked off and they all but one hit the same player in the same place, so a coach will place his best catcher in that place with a strong runner to feed off him, result safe possession and good metres made. brough kicks off twice and we all saw what happened. take note kirk you are allowed to think on your feet and vary your kicks.
then as i see it there are two set patterns
1, rangi runs laterally and drops an inside ball to a forward.
2, rangi runs laterally and dummies twice passes behind some one to owen who because nathan watches the tapes has a man waiting to tackle him on receipt of the ball.
option 3 when 1 and 2 fail is a kick to the wing where the defence rarely contest because they know kirk will palm the ball in some direction rather than catch, it must have worked in the past so why change it.
i have 2 questions for fellow posters
1, how many were playing out of position last night ?
2, how can a team with so many injuries as the bulls have, play with so much passion and purpose.they obviously have pride in what they do and are well motivated.
i will be abstaining from attending the collosium until the performances improve.
as my old dad used to say "would they come to see me if i was that bad".

TBH. I would settle for a 0-0 draw the way we are playing at the moment. Leaking so many points is a worry. You are right though it is all a bit stale in attack.

Dixon's kick-offs are beginning to annoy me now. Same old, same old - even when we're getting battered.

Aim right, kicking inside their ten to the halve. Play on. Yawwwwn.

I'd agree about the kicks in general, you are right Fully about the restarts by Dixon its the same game after game .

I can't understand why he doesn't kick hard but lower and try to get the ball to bounce in front of the opposition, and why the hell don't we use the grubber kick close to the line rather than the done to death high kick to the corner for Dixon,teams are wise to this now.

The grubber kick is better to use on a fast advancing defensive line as its harder for them to turn round and defend it.

This is the exact same conversation I've been having every game for the past three seasons at least.

It's stale, boring and not getting us anywhere. I thought when Millward came in we would have new ideas, better kicking and more flair in attack but we haven't it's the same stuff week in week out

Kick off you have to have a plan so Dicko wont be choosing this for himself, he will be putting it where he is told - so perhaps a variety of plan's might help!!!
Could not agree more, from a coaching perspective though we are neither one thing or the other - Agree with a point of trying to get it to bounce, or teeing it real high and trying to have it in the air for the maximum amount of time, but our between approach makes it like a training ground catch and doesn't make it hang in the air. Worst of all outcomes.

Attacking kicks, that is interesting; does feel like we are making it up on the day.
Agree with Chris again above anytime the defensive line is coming up fast, putting it on the floor behind them for your players to push through in a planned channel is a great plan. Creative use of this in opponents half around the 20 metre area seems to work well, not just trying to stand it up in goal.

Be nice to play some of the game in the Oppo 20!

Now that Millward has returned, things need to get back on track quickly. Our kicking game is so predictable and every other team in SL knows where the ball is going before it is kicked. I don't think we have had a decent kicker at the club since Brough left.
