Does anyone know any details about his retirement? Is it purely financial or does he have an injury?

Could be a decent signing for us. Someone who can kick goals for fun! Get Mathers on it!

Hasnt been a regular kicker last few years due to leg injuries irrc.

It's clearly an financial arrangement. Wire get a better player in their squad, Hicks gets the money he'd have got anyway but without having to risk injury and an extra year in England to earn it. In the meantime he can always play back home and earn a bit more on top.

Been reported in a Manley newspaper that he might not retire he has had offers from the Catalans and an NRL club.

I think we need to be aiming higher than a one season special. He is a good player, no doubt but I would rather see Thompson playing more games next year than plug a gap with a short term pension top up contract.

No disrespect, he is good, but doesn't do much for our future.
