Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.

at least they took responsibility for this one though,

http://www.examiner.co.uk/sport-news/amateur-rugby-league-news/2009/04/17/amateur-rugby-league-underbank-coach-calls-for-fixture-re-think-86081-23403631/

No wonder Gateshead Thunder couldnt play on the Saturday... they played Fev Rovers on the Friday night....... :)

The worst thing of it all is that Underbank will be a decent side when all their players are back from their other commitments so you have to punish them by forcing them to surrender the points for the games theyve missed.

what a crock of poop.

Underbanks coach can't have been around for very long as apart from cottingham, i can't remember teams blobbing like this before. not this early in the season.

will only want to play when they've a good team out, unlike fev who went with 13 to liverpool and got spanked to make sure the game went ahead.

and technically they've not taken responsibility for it, just passing the blame else where. the fixtures were out end of december, you'd have thought they would have know the score then?

Sheffield Hillsborough Hawks, but yes the point still stands. Normally forfeits are either for a long distance away match when injuries are high or towards the end of the season for clubs not in the playoffs that lose players to the winter, very rarely early on when the players should be excited about the new season

From the article:
“So I believe the time has come to consider the possibility of all games at all levels being played in summer.”
That would actually see Underbank lose more players I'd imagine

Underbank vs Featherstone : Thu Apr 23, 2009 1:58 pm
Just thought I would add a quick not to add some facts to the non game. Underbank did approach featherstone to play on the Sunday and this was rejected by them. Its not good for the league missing the games but the clubs need to work together to assist each other at this time of year and be flexible with games when possible.

Why should a club change their arrangements so another club can put out their BARLA players??
Surely if they want those players to play then get their commitment from the start of the season & not whenever thay can turn up?

The proposed fixtures are released by the League, there is then a 4-6 week period where clubs can attempt to rearrange them.
I suspect Underbank approached Fev only recently to see if they could play it on the Sunday and Fev were well within their rights to refuse.

Not last season but the one before we had an issue where Dewsbury Celtic refused to play a 4pm kick off, due to our pitch being unavailable at the time. They said they had other commitments so we had to concede the fixture so I dont see any reason why Underbank shouldnt concede the points.
