Wigan to play one game in London every year - I Dont understand this decision London Broncos dont give match attendances on their website however i would be surprised if they got any more than 1,500 to 2,000 per game so i doubt there is an appetite for rugby league in london I am sure 5,000 wiganites will come down for the weekend but i cant see the advantage of giving up one of your home games
I must disagree,duggs.
There is more to it than just playing one game in London. The idea is to raise the profile of the Wigan Warriors club ad the sport of rugby league.
Wigan have 'gone into' South Wales and Cumbria, mainly to view potential players. This seems to be more 'business' focused and could possibly find some blue chip sponsors. If you look at soccer clubs like Rangers/Celtic/Man Utd - they have supporters clubs around the world who follow them home and away.
Raising the profile is a good idea.

Salford v Catalans on Sunday 5th July will be free to all supporters its a nice jesture and they will probably get a capacity crowd of 12,000 but how are they going to make any money ok some though programmes food and beer but you will mickey off you season ticket holders who have already paid for this fixture and will probably not be able to stand or sit in the same position they have done all season
Salford play at a stadium where the proceeds from food and drink sales go to the stadium management company and NOT the club.
The season ticket holders for the seats have been assured their seats are reserved and have been offered an upgrade.
In an era where schools are not involving themselves too much in the sport and there is a lack of coverage on terrestrial television it is a wonderful gesture to find newbies.
I also think the Salford club may take a 'game on the road' sometime in the future.
Dublin keeps getting mentioned as a place where rugby league should be taken.I wonder if the Irish head coach has any thoughts on that?
