Sheffield Scrape Past Wily Whitehaven - http://wp.me/p3JxPK-y4

Need to improve tenfold if we're to give Leigh a game but I'm happy we're one week closer to where we want to be. Steve Thorpe and Misi Taulapapa were my highlight players.

I need to remind myself that there are no bad games of rugby league - just some games are better than others.

Steve Thorpe would be my choice if selecting one of the better players.

We have to reduce the number of penalties conceded at the PTB.Even without the fastidious referee of today we regularly concede these types of penalties.

Next week we have the added problem of a home crowd and Messrs.McNally and Brierley assisting the referee.

Poor weather - a game not as good as others - but a precious 2 points. :D

Thorpe has been top dollar since he signed for us. Keal Carlile's work can sometimes go under the radar and I think he did well today too.

If Turner's try had been allowed in the opening quarter, no way it should have been by the way, then maybe we'd have gone from strength to strength? Who knows eh! Onwards and upwards!

Both Sigismeau and Jouffret have impressed for Whitehaven during their initial one month trial according to my fellow Nothing But League writer who's on BBC Radio Cumbria duty at Castle Park tomorrow.

Trialists are on trial for one calendar month but with a maximum of 4 games then they have to be offered a contract or released. It wiil be interesting to see if they get contracts.

If they're still contracted to St Esteve's, surely Whitehaven can get them on loan? They're surely worth a punt I think.

Sheffield Eagles - Back to Back National Champions 2012 and 2013 !!

Re: Game 17 - Whitehaven Home : Sun Jun 14, 2015 12:59 pm
Thought we were about as good/bad (depending on whether your glass is half full or half empty) at completing as they were. But we did play more of the game in their half and that probably tipped the scales.

Sixteen penalties in the first half - just six in the second. Someone had A Word, I think.
