I disagree, if we were to lose to the Yorks and Hunslets of this world (no disrespect) by 12 points, it would make me sick to think we got some kind of reward for it.

Surely the points difference is the reward at the end of the season if you finish on the same points as someone you are above them as your scoring or defence has been better.Why have a bonus point,The reason to lose by less is that your points difference is going to be better.

Au contraire. You would be in the same position as under your system. Two points behind the winners.

I can see several negatives/weaknesses in the bonus point system,You shouldn't reward failure.

I don't. It's the concept of rewarding failure I'm against, regardless of the points system.
