Further to my previous post, justice not only has to be done, be seen to be done but also be fair, equitable and consistent.
Also at this week's disciplinary hearings was Leeds' (spit) Ben Cross, who was also suspended for one match. I think we can ignore the fines as £300 and £50 is the standard fine for SL and Co-op players respectively.
Menzie's 'crime' was to tackle a ball carrier. Conversely, Cross deliberately attacked the head of Richie Myler off the ball after the player had passed the ball. There was plenty of time to pull out of the tackle but he did not. In my view a cowardly and despicable attack that has no place on any rugby pitch.
I can see no way in which these two incidents can be thought of as being remotely similar. One was a tackle on a ball carrier, one was a late hit to the head off the ball.
AND YET THE RFL DEEMS THE SAME PUNISHMENT IS NECESSARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For ******* sake and ********* ******** *********** ********* the ******* ********* beyond **********
It's not even credible.
If Menzie's hit is worthy of a one match ban then Cross should be out for a month or two.
To say I'm annoyed by this is an understatement.
I'm just waiting for him to be charged for his unprovoked attack on Robbie Paul.
It's fair to say the Hunter became the Hunted and is still not fit enough to play.
Surely a sine die ban RFL?
Also, I'll kick off the collection to pay Menzie's fine with a fiver. Anyone else?
