Well predicted ESO lots of handling errors especially by us.We defended well but lacked the cutting edge and were beaten by the better side so well played Halifax.
Our season is now in tatters, It is now 3 defeats in a row and our Championships crown is virtually over.I cant see us winning three games in a row.If we avoid Doncaster in the next round we have a chance of progressing to the Elimination Semi Final but i cant see us beating Halifax or Leigh and even if we do we will probably have the difficult task to beat Featherstone in the Grand Final.
On a brighter note on a person to person web site (Betfair) somebody was still willing to Back Sheffield to win the Grand Final at the stupid odds of 5/2 so I accepted that bet and at least i should make some money in the likely event us not winning the Grand Final
I disagree. Our season is far from being in tatters. Sure we've lost 3 on the spin (as many games as we had lost in the 7 months previously), but I reckon we were well in it at HT at Donny. The boys will have gone in at HT and seen that Fev were 0-24 up and with that news it was only human nature that heads would drop. And they did.
At home to Fax we know from experience that our forwards always struggle in wet conditions. Indeed when we lost at Fax back in Jan, same again, the pitch was a pudding and their forwards won it.
Our backs are our strength and our forwards did not provide a platform for them to play on Friday. Add to that also Dom & Patch were strangely poor with ball in hand and also kicking for field position whereas the Halifax halves were superb when they put boot to ball.
Sunday is the last hurrah for us at Don Valley. Emotions will be running high and I'm pretty sure that the boys will be fired up to leave DVS on a high.
I'm convinced we will roll Dewsbury and then we go to Fax. Hopefully the conditions will be better than Friday and our quality will shine through.
Come on folks... it's not over so lets put the ground issues to one side after we've sent emails to BBC Radio Sheff & Sheff Star and tweeted as many folks as possible - then lets focus on backing the boys all the way to another GF!
