Friday Night Lights Approaches and Ticket Sales Soar!19th August 2013
Just days to go now before our annual Friday Night Lights event on 23rd August, when Skolars take on North Wales Crusaders in a crucial Kingstone Press Championship 1 fixture with both teams having already guaranteed themselves a play-off place at the very least . The teams recently met in the final of the Northern Rail Bowl when Crusaders edged a thrilling encounter that was even for large parts of the game. Both teams are fighting hard to secure a place in the Championship for 2014. Skolars win at Hemel on Sunday moves them up to joint 3rd with Rochdale and if the club can win their last two fixtures they would be guaranteed 3rd place and home advantage in the play-offs.
Friday Night Lights is Skolars traditional eve of Challenge Cup Final event and this year the fixture is, once again, to be televised live on Premier Sports. Every year Friday Night Lights attracts Rugby League supporters from all over the UK who are in London for the Tetley’s Challenge Cup Final on Saturday, which this year will be contested by Wigan Warriors and Hull FC.
Commenting on the event Skolars General Manager Howard Kramer had this to say: “Ticket sales are well ahead of where we usually are at this stage and there appears to be a lot of interest in a game which could have a significant bearing on top spot in the league and the play-off placings. I would advise anyone intending to come to Friday Night Lights to visit the Skolars website now and secure your tickets. It promises to be a great night of Championship 1 Rugby League.”
The kick-off is set for 6.30pm but you can get here early and either watch the thriving minis section in action as they host a minis festival or some Masters Rugby League as a London side take on The Political Animals in their annual meeting. This event kicks off at 4pm which is shortly followed by the opening of our annual Real Ale Festival, which is located in the Olympic Suite under the main stand at our White Hart Lane ground.
This event always proves very popular and offers a good selection of Real Ales for you to try. To make the experience even better our sponsors Arriva buses are kindly laying on FREE courtesy buses to and from Wood Green Underground station, both before and after the game! There will be Skolars representatives at the underground station to direct you to this service and help get to the ground in plenty of time for the main event. The bus service will operate from 4.30pm -6.45pm to get you to the ground and will operate between 8pm-9.30pm to return you to Wood Green station. Just look for the signs directing you to the bus stop or ask one of the Skolars representatives that will be on hand as you exit the underground station.
This event is sure to be the perfect way to start your Challenge Cup weekend and with the game being televised this year we are all set to create the atmosphere that this fixture deserves. So don’t miss out on what is building up to be an exciting and enthralling evening.
