Skolars re-sign Sam Gee for 2011London Skolars are delighted to announce that they have re-signed student international Sam Gee for the 2011 season.
Skolars fought off other bids to ensure that the 23 year old hooker remains at New River Stadium. The former Warrington and Wigan academy player has made a great start to his time in the capital, scoring 9 tries in 9 games, with hat-tricks in his last two matches.
“It’s great that Sam has decided to stay with us” said Club Chairman Hector McNeil. “Whilst we are looking to appoint our new coach, we know we need to ensure that they have the core of a squad to develop. We will be making more signings in the next few weeks. It says a lot about the prospects for the Skolars that Sam has re-signed despite some approaches from larger clubs”.
Skolars will be looking to Gee to help gain a second successive victory when they take on Oldham on 27 August in their final Co-operative Championship 1 game of 2010. His fellow student international Jy-Mel Coleman will also be looking to extend the club record of tries in five consecutive games in the Friday Night Lights game, which precedes the Carnegie Challenge Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.
