Wake me up when the new season finally starts. It's all a bit cold, dark and a tad boring until then.

SWFC the owls are coming for you

Re: Wakey at Home : Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:43 am
I'm coming over a little earlier on friday so i wanted to know if that little school Car park just before the Traffic lights is open/used for evening games for parking, Think there used to charge a £5 last time i came over, It makes it easier for away fans to get away quicker.

Hope you have a good season nice to have both hull clubs back in Sl.

Cheers

I would check on our official website, ' match day information...' parking isnt going to be easy., the council have placed bollards all along the central reservation to stop cars parking on there.. UP THE ROBINS AND CHEERS

Would have liked another prop to chose from especially at losing scruton but it's not to be the Wakefield fans seem pretty confident some of them expecting to win easily my heart says we'll win my head says narrow defeat

Re: Wakey at Home : Wed Jan 31, 2018 4:43 pm
Wakefield have a stronger team than Rovers I don't think there is any doubt about that.

But Rovers most important players McGuire & Lunt are available and we are at home. There will be a big crowd and a great atmosphere.

The key is defence and attitude. If we defend for our lives McGuire & Lunt are players who can eek out tries like few others. It might be enough.

Wakefield are favourites justifiably so. We might actually have a better chance a week later at Elland Road I'd certainly take one win out of two if offered.

Would expect Walne to get nod with no Scruton. No getting away from the fact we look lightweight in the pack. The last few season before relegation we were underpowered and seem no bigger now? As Bob says effort and emotion may be enough early rounds?

I think you have a great chance of a win. Even the best of teams are vulnerable in the first few games and we are not the best. That said it's probably one of the better Trinity teams you'll have come across.

Unless we implode the real difference between the two teams may start to show after games 5-6 imho.

If I were a HKR fan I'd have this down as if not a must win then at least a hope to win.

Best of luck against the rest of SL :-)

Our backs look decent it's just if we can match or actually dominate anyone else's pack? Hope to be proved wrong and a mobile medium sized pack can do the job for us? Wigan gave done well considering on paper their pack is comparably small but they are fast and fitter than most it seems? We are going to have to be fitter and more aggressive than ever if we hope to miss bottom 4

Re: Wakey at Home : Wed Jan 31, 2018 8:18 pm
What can you expect from Wakefield Trinity

Wakefield have a huge front row, huge! There’s no respite when the interchanges happen either as the two coming off the bench are bigger than the two who’ll start the game and there’s one big prop who hasn’t even made the 19.

It’s almost definitely the biggest prop forward rota in Super League so, without trying to offend anyone, you can’t match Trinity for size. Therefore a smaller more mobile pack is your best opportunity to win the battle up front.

While Wakefield’s back row & loose are sizeable they’re very mobile and run some great lines while being athletic enough to defend against lighter players with great footwork. IMO it’s this mix of size up front and mobility in the back rows that’s worked so well for Trinity over the last season or so.

We have two clever halves who get the team moving and link the forward and back play pretty efficiently. Miller has a bit of ‘off the cuff’ play in him and the speed to punish you if he gets through the line.

The whole three quarter line has genuine pace and finishing power from anywhere on the field. At least one genuine speedster/finisher will be left out.

Grix is the puppet master at the back and has enough experience to chime in and be a playmaker or extra man out wide.

It’s early season and every team will be looking for their timing and combinations so like everyone else Trinity can be vulnerable in the first few weeks. One of our biggest failings is discipline and another is ball control, we push the pass too often trying to make things happen.

You have an intimidating stadium, full of loud and passionate supporters who creat a great atmosphere who get behind your team so I expect this to be a tough game that remains tight for around 65 minutes but I think Trinity will get on top and finish stronger.

Rovers 18 v 28 Trinity

Good Luck for the season
