Chris Chester - The new messiah? : Sat Apr 02, 2016 5:32 pm
Any regrets over sacking him?
Has got Wakefield playing a much more expansive game which is allowing
wInger Tom Johnstone to see a lot of the ball and score some exciting tries.
Also shown faith in 18 year old full back Max Jowitt a worthy MOM today.
He is definitely a future international.
Brian Smith got Wakefield fit to play the full 80 mins but Chris Chester
seems to have put some self belief into players who seemed to be shackled
under BS.
Note that Leeds have now taken over the mantle of lowest scorers in SL.
Well done on your win there last night.
Wonder how they will react now after losses to both of us.

Well done Wakey.
I am one of the Rovers fans that wanted Chester out and while I think it was right for Rovers it looks like it was right for CC and Wakey. You have started to play with some real passion, it's good to see.

Above is the post that I put on the Wakefield forum.
No regrets from us because we are also playing much better with Webster in charge than we were with Chezza in charge.
Good luck for the season.

No regrets whatsoever. It wasn't working for Rovers with Chester in charge and a change was needed. Our recent performances regardless of results bare this out.
It would seem the change has done Chester some good to and although I obviously hope we do better than you in the long run I'm pleased for him.

I always thought we had the wrong coaches and it seems to be working out for both clubs Webster didn't recover from what he said about the middle 8s and although he was right he shouldn't have said it

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

It's a strange one isn't it?

I'm not an advocate of sacking the coach, statistics show it doesn't work unless you're Barcelona or Real Madrid.

Chester had that annoying West Yorkshire habit of saying "us" when he should have said "our", that was enough for me.

Glad it's working out for both clubs at the moment, although Webster being ginger (hilarious, my spell check brings up nice bloke for ginger) means he is clearly evil, but perhaps evil is what we currently require...

Ruddy spell censored post, I meant personnel of dubious parentage, not "nice bloke".

I don't think you will find a rovers fan that would of wanted chester to stay as our head coach, we was poor and terribly inconsistent, but you won't find a rovers fan that isn't happy for Chris he gave very good service to the club.
The point you make about him giving the young lad a game at full back in my opinion he never gave young lads a fair crack of the whip while with us and made them scape goats for many loses last season

We appear to be technically much better under Webster. The ruck is much better, the positioning of players in attack and defence.
Mulhern isn't running upright so isn't getting as bashed about as much. Tilse is being allowed to off load and pass the ball as well as many other improvements.
The improvement technically will help long term.
Good luck to Chester. He appeared overwhelmed at Rovers at times. Hopefully he's learned but not enough to finish above us.

Chester seemed to be doomed to fail with Poching stabbing him in the back here, you know that defence coach that got our defence really tight?

Good luck to him & wakey, but lets remember it was Brian Smith who did the ground work, & James Webster is only holding the fort untill we get McNamara (we are all thinking) a proteige' of Brian Smith who has been a big influance on him as a player & coach.
