It's going to be a long painful slog of a season, innit? To put it in a historic context I had a little look at Rovers' worst ever seasons. It could be argued that the fact we're in the top flight means this can't possibly be the worst ever, but if we triple our league points tally over the remaining two thirds of the season, or something similar, it'll up (or maybe down) there.
1935-36 was bad, as we trailed in 28th of 30 (and Hull were champions, just to add salt), but the team picked up 21 points from 38 games. More than half a point per game.
1988-1989 wasn't fabulous, especially so soon after a period that was. But it was in a 14 team top division and Rovers still managed half a point per game.
1953-1954 looks like the standout candidate. 29th of 30, and just 12 points from 36 games.
With three points from 8 games, we're tracking a little ahead of '53-'54. Can we get to 10 or 12 points, by the split and perhaps avoid a first wooden spoon since '92-'93?
Webster seems to be getting better, if still uneven performances out the team, so I think yes... Maybe.
