I think people are being a little unfair on Walker.
We signed him as a back up prop, but due to career ending injuries to Poore, Weyman and the other one whose name I forget he had to become front line straight from the off.
We flogged him to death for the first fourteen weeks of this season in one of the most physically attritional positions in the sport, and then we criticise him when his performances drop off?
He was the pack leader, not a job he was signed to do two years ago, last year or this. The lad has stood up.
He backs into tackles because he's supposed to be an offloading prop, but he's been forced into being an everything prop. Enforcer. Middle defender. Hit up man. Big tackler. Big minute player.
All our other props, including Puletua have distinctive roles. Walker has done all of them, all at the same time.
We've effectively ruined his last couple of seasons from a personal point of view for him, due to the team make up we've had.
And we repay him by saying: "Don't, he's rubbish, get rid".
Jesus wept.
