Early days but not been convinced in any game so far. We just do not kill teams off which is a major weakness and has got to be addressed. Is it a mental thing? but we don,t see anyone cajoling the troops or shouting and driving them on, no one playing to the crowd, they all seem to relaxed. Wish we had a Clint Newton or Cockayne in the team. We need to get nasty and horrible to play against. Yes we are playing Super League teams, but we just seem too soft when it matters and are missing a killer instinct..not happy.
In terms of quality we’re
maybe a mid-table team. Which’d be an improvement on recent seasons.
I know I went off on one, in my own gentle way, at the weekend. And to lose after being 14 points up is painful. However, if we’d lost by 2 having been down by 14 at HT, i’d probably have been banging on about a slow start costing us. Losing needs rationalising in a way that winning doesn’t.
There may be a mental or cultural element to it, but in SL there are teams that are better than us, teams that are on a similar level, and then, trying not to be too disrespectful, London. I think that’s the bigger issue.
We showed decent mental fortitude in that last set in the derby, after all.
