It's easy to state this when your own team has been virtually injury free all season. It's not surprising where certain teams are this season based on injuries.

The few times we have fielded a nearly fit team we have either won or been exceptionally close (last night or the derby at our place).

The problem is that we'll never know. We can only look back and wonder 'what if' come the end of the season.

As I stated, a very frustrating season.

We haven't been injury free all season but we do have a big squad and have been able to take players out of the team when not fully fit reducing the risk of longer term injury. We beat wire on easter monday with 8 players out.

It has been dismal. 3 points from the opening 9 games saw to that. We've 8 points from the last 9 though, so I think Webster deserves some credit (although the Oldham game fell in that period too).

Losing a lead, Campese failing to complete the 80 for the third time in the five games he's made the 17, slim hopes of the top 8 extinguished - not a great morning from a HKR POV.

You will be fine in the middle 8's. At least 5 teams much worse than you in there and I'd expect you to win all of your home games and doubt you'll finish below 10th at the split so you'll have 4 home games anyway

So if we underperform by one place we're the 4th v 5th relegation game. I don't disagree, but I'm not reassured.

In relation to our injuries/squad size and conditioning deficiencies, it would be interesting to see the stats on our injuries and see how many were conditioning related and how many were contact related. I think (apart from campo) the majority have been as a result of impact rather than pulls/tears. Also looking at our 'small pack' they are more than holding their own, and have grown in stature over the season. Last season we had massive holes in our pack and our backs kept us ticking, this season it's our backs that are struggling and that is hitting us harder. Dixon again showed us how much we are missing Mantellato, some of his play reading last night was woeful and back to making schoolboy errors. Despite the knock on fest from both sides, I feel his mistakes cost us the game. So overall this is the most frustrating season, at least in the last ten years.

Hull have been lucky with injuries and you have had more than your fair share, but that doesn't change the fact that your squad needs some work.

You have a handful of real gems, but there's a lot of filler in the squad too. I dont profess to know what Campese earns, but I would be surprised if he isn't your top earner. I think you would be far better served letting him leave and spending his wages of suring up the pack, especially the back row.

I agree with all this.

Regarding the forwards, the only back rowers I would keep and rebuild around would be James Greenwood, who has kicked on well this season and is becoming a quality, consistent player in the 2nd row. Blair playing the first 60 minutes in the 2nd row again last night showed what we had been missing there this season until the last 2 games. Next year he will be 33 I think. Allgood is better at LF than prop. A keeper.

Add to these, Walker at prop and Lunt and Lawler as hookers and the rest can foxtrot oscar for me.

We also need a new FB, a replacement SO for Campo, and Dixon and Salter need binning. Simples.

If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

Last night we should have beat Wigan and on the back of some very poor reffing we lost.

I disagree, we caught some poor calls off Thaler last night, notably in the two occasion he fell for Charnley wanging the ball away in the tackle and giving a penalty, but for me there were a number of reasons that we lost the game due to our own ineptitude.

1. Campese goes off, all game management goes out the window although we manage to score again and go ten points up. And this is the main reason, lack of leadership.
2. At 18-12 we had two perfect positions to go for the drop goal, one of them Kelly put in a horrible kick to Sio when he was positioned right in the pocket, the other, (which was even better) Walker gave a ludicrous forward pass to Tilse which resulted in Tierney's break leading to Gelling's try.
3. I reckon we put the ball down, or lost or just generally ballsed it up at least eleven times. That's sixty six. Count them. Sixty six extra tackles to defend, you don't win games by disrespecting possession to that degree.

Disclaimer; I got a new tablet today and it has some sort of weird predictive text shizzle on it that I haven't worked out yet so if there are, and there will be strange spellings in this and subsequent posts, that's why. Just a nod to the Grammar Nazis out there.
