Yeah, I broadly agree.

The way I look at it is that bringing in Shaw, Minns and Mulhearn for Guzdek, Hallett and Esslemont was okay. The problem is the latter two were also kind of replacing Goulding and Burke. Long term, they might be inspired signings, but the quality of the squad was thinned in the short term, and it wasn't bursting at the seams with reliable quality in 2015.

Nothing sure fire, and it depends on how much cash is available.

Goal 1 has to be on avoiding the drop. The squad is thin, injury hit, and short of experience and quality. If we're going to toss out a couple of bad apples, we need new players to come in.

I wasn't massively keen on signing Danny Tickle, but we need another goal kicker and a bit of rotation in the back row wouldn't go amiss.

After that, it depends on who the dishonest ones are. They're unlikely to see themselves as dishonest and are possibly pretty pee'd off, so a quick break would be for the best. It'd be at the club's expense, but if they're moved on or deregistered they come off the live cap, freeing up cap space, if cash can be found. Big 'if'.

Then for next year, I'd actually retain the core of the squad. Give them a decent preseason, have 3 or 4 more players with a good amount of SL experience, and adopt a more workmanlike attitude. I love talent and effortless brilliance, but we desperately need to be much, much more robust.

Well according to a friend of mine who has just emailed me, there may be some kind of forum been announced tomorrow which will allow fans to put their questions and concerns forward.
I don't know whether anyone else has heard this.

I assume like me that you construe robust in this context to mean more physical and intense, MR?

I also agree that survival this season is paramount. Yesterday's defeat and shambolic capitulation to Oldham AT HOME (no longer a fortress) now sends out a clear message to all the Championship teams in the Middle 8s. HULL KR ARE THERE FOR THE TAKING. All those in or around the club including fans who have played to the tune of - "we are too good and have too much class to go down" will be reappraising those views now.

Improvement in performance levels no matter how small, especially in attack, will give us the incentive and confidence to revert back to some Harlem Globetrotter Rugby as a Plan B, if playing robust percentage Rugby as a Plan A fails to deliver. We lack the composure for an arm wrestle environment.

Once survival is assured, we need to buy out the contracts of those "dishonest" underperformers referred to by Hudgell in his disappointing emulation of the trademark Cockroach Twatter rant. If he talks the talk and fails to walk the walk after his public dummy spat his credibility is shot and his days as Chairman of Hull KR are numbered. Dangerous gamble imo but maybe there is value in this new "no more Mr Nice Guy" approach.

Right, time for a serious response to Mild Rover's thread question.

For my part, I believe our current plight this season is 100% down to the players on the pitch. Before some of you jump down my throat, let me elaborate.

Those players - some are good enough for SL, some are good enough but out of form (Albert Kelly for example), some are injured, some are not good enough (Dixon, Horne, Tilse, Marsh, Clarkson), others are just simply too inexperienced.

Collectively our players are good enough on their day, but overall too inconsistent and inexperienced to manage out close games. Also:

-They lack 80 minute intensity and they lack leadership on the pitch.
-They are too collegiate and nobody is getting in their faces on the pitch or behind the sticks trying to raise their passion and their speed.
-They keep making basic errors and giving away field position, because they are lacking in confidence.
-They don't trust or believe in one another despite what they say and we hear and they don't know what their individual strengths and responsibilities are.

Above all, nobody is putting their hands up to say, follow my lead, except Blair after Chester's sacking and Shaun Lunt against Leeds. These 2 players alone have demonstrated in recent weeks the attitude and effort to be taken out on to the park and deployed for the entire 80. Others need to follow their example.

Directors will set the tone and expectations of the club, coaching staff will devise the plays and the gameplan and players will execute it. The latter ain't happening. We're back to one out rugby, with no support play, no alternate running lines and no creativity. With no attack to speak of, we have to rely on defence to win games and we haven't recruited defensively peerless individuals.

Finally, how many times are we going to write on here that we are underusing Sio in matches, before someone creates plays and a gameplan designed to capitalise on his strengths.

Well said I also think we made a mistake in pre season we should have gone abroad not watched a load of fireman wot has that got to do with rugby I think that was in hindsight stupid along with not get the right players in

Yep.

The thing is, can we really afford to rely on players accused of dishonesty to ensure that survival, if they know they're gone whatever happens?

But then, if not them, who?

Not being able to get your general on the pitch hasn't helped.
