Gone for our biggest side in terms of our centres, second rowers and props with Cockayne on the wing for his kick returns.
Stop Gidley scoring, stop Saints possession, stop their confidence.

Saints, by plenty.

When are you chaps going to grasp that HKR are rubbish ?

DANNY LOCKWOOD - LEAGUE WEEKLY (18-5-09)

I'M SURE THERE IS NO CORRELATION BETWEEN THE FACT THAT THE FRONT RUNNERS FOR THE 2009 MEDIA WHINGING AWARD ARE FROM GATESHEAD AND HULL FC, FORMERLY THE B*ST*RD-TWINS OF ONE OF RUGBY LEAGUE'S LOUSIER IDEAS.

If Rovers go to Saints with a wing combination of Welham and Cockayne, then I'm afraid we're asking for trouble.

Stick Webster on the wing, he is proving to be very poor in the centres, which is why he was liked as a winger in Aussie.

Thats not far off how i'd go, however changing another players fixed position doesnt seem to be the answer for me. Welham deserves his place again so i'd drop webster so he can recover and think about his game in the centres more. Start Cockayne and free up a space on the bench for another forward?

I'd like to see Nev get a fair crack in the back row, cos as a prop he's gunna play himself out of a contract and it's not his fault he's out of position.

Maybe replace Watts for Wheelden (just bacause of the experience in the bigger games)

Webster is more of a winger than centre isnt he? Its where he played most of his NRL rugby i think?

Putting Walker up against Gidley is suicide. Walker is decent going forward as a centre but his defence is pretty poor. Id give welham a shot at him. Id move Chev into the 2nd row to cover the absence of Newton.

Briscoe

Fitzhenry (colbon if fit)
Webster
Welham
Fox

I'anson
Dobson

Fozzard
Fisher
Mills

Galea
Netherton
Murrell

Cockayne
Walker
Aizue
Wheeldon

If Newton makes it, id move webster to the bench, walker to centre and Newton straight in for Netherton.

I think Walker would have a hard time against Gidley, centres look like your weakest links at the moment.

Load of Bollax. Watts for me needs to start a few games, after all he is the future. Why put Murrell back to standoff? I'anson is a natural in that position. Remember we need to blood these and quick because before we know it we need to rely on homegrown and academy trained players.
I for one would happily swop instant success for a mediocre finish knowing 3 or 4 academy or homegrown youngsters have been suitably battlehardened for future seasons. Think Westerman at Cas.
Newton on a load of money is not earning at the moment and you cant say Cooke on a wedge is playing any better than I'anson would.
