PROUD TO BE A ROBIN!

Ben Kavagnah : Tue Jul 03, 2018 10:23 am
He doesnt get much attention but I would I was wondering what the majority of you think of him? Personally I think he is a very underrated player and adds a lot to the team, especially going forward. He always takes the ball at pace, makes quite a few meters and nearly always gets a quick play the ball, we often get a "roll on" after one of his strong carries. His defence doesnt scream out anything bad and pops out the odd offload. Sheens moving him to Loose Forward was a masterstroke as he fits the bill for the modern day 13. Can slot in the front row too.

I would imagine that he will not be on mega bucks, therefore I feel we get good value from him. Kavagnah, Addy, Lawler, Cator and Donno all are 13's so when all are fit think this is our strongest position.

Really excellent in the Championship.

Obviously, he's not going to stand-out the same way in SL, but he's doing a decent job. Bigger than the others you mention and, although they bring different qualities, that helps us IMO. Addy is more of a utility player, probably best as a second rower, Lawler and Cator may be better at 9. Donaldson brings some energy and wins plenty of penalties - good bench option. Clarkson is another option there.

Don't think BK has done hardly anything all season until the giants game if I was honest. GL by far the best loose forward we have and I would maybe spell him with DA to give us options or even start him at loose then move him to hooker after Lunt has done his spell. Donno as much as his passion isn't SL, just not big enough but gives a lot more than some other players, plays well above his height and weight. We all have opinions so will be good to hear others.

Kav, along with Clarkson, Donno, & Tickle are just not what the club need in the back of the pack if they are to progress. All for various different reasons. When Leeds get their new coach in, if Dwyer is still out of favour, I’d like to see the club offer him the “Lunt understudy” role.

Good call imo about dwyer,he is quality and is always going to be 2nd best at leeds as parcell is probably the best hooker in the league.

Got to disagree about Clarkson Des - just doesn't offer enough for me.

Kav can be good - but I think his lateral movement in defence gets him caught out a bit too much, however when he is in motion going forward and playing well he is a lot to handle. Think the point about him not been on mega bucks is probably right as well.

For me I'd be keeping donno - his energy is excellent and he wins you so many penalties. Ultimately a high number of tries in RL are scored off the back of penalties, so you should utilise that as much as possible.

Tickle - Bla. Done a job this year at times but won't be getting an extension ( I hope)

I'd let tickle and clarkson go, keep donno - Kav i'm not sure about.

Lawler will be our starting 13 for years I imagine can't disagree with anybody about that

Iam not saying clarkson is good,I just think he is a grafter, who adds nothing going forward, but plays big minutes which kavanagh dosen't,otherwise I agree with the rest of your post.

Donaldson is small but he does add a lot when he comes on the amount of head shots he takes is unbelievable if we are to kick on the likes of tickle and co should be replaced

Kav was very good against the giants. Other times he can seem quite ordinary.
