can anyone explain how i create a fantasy team on this site.

Go to the fantasy section click on create team, enter a team name and ground name. Then click on edit under each position to choose a player for that place.

Be quick though changes will be locked within the next hour!!

can you not create a team now that the season has started ?? Or is it just that its during the weekend that I can't make one ??

The latter - once the SL round has started, the system is locked until all the scores are entered. Try it Sunday evening and you'll be able to select a team pal.
