Sheffield Eagles : Mon Apr 27, 2009 2:38 pm
I'm sure there was a post on here last night about the game??

On the TIW site things are going into meltdown again but are things really that bleak...
Admittedly the way that the team crumbled in the second half was very disappointing but the way that the team racked up the 22 first half points was very encouraging.
We have seen a few new set plays in the last couple of games and there were even dummy runners employed last night.
Webster and Thackray continue to improve and the defence was pretty decent in the first half.
The score could have been so much better too with Kavannagh breaking the line twice and Thompson once only for them to hold onto the ball too long rather than give the certain pass to supporting players.

I was also wondering what influence the coach is having on the team. It did not escape my attention that Cullen spent the first half down at the dugout and then changed his vantage point in the second half.

Overall if the scrappiness can be worked out then I think we will have a very good run in the second half of this season especially seeing as Bannister, Patterson will be back in contention and Fletcher will be a bit fitter.

Also.. what happened to the other post about last night?

It was huge 3 points that yesterday, just like Doncaster we showed the battling qualities to win out in the end and at the end of the day that second half led to a fantastic new chant 'We could have scored more, but decided no to.'

Love a brew.

Come on own up, who deleted the original game thread?

As for the game it appears we are still playing poorly and winning. I do feel that one really good 80 minute performance will fully kick start our season and lets hope it's this friday against a very good Barrow side.

I would Hope Cullen will give Banister a go from the bench for this one and give Mr 80 minute man (Josh Simm) a rest.

The thing is though VM that during these games we are looking fairly decent for periods and then other periods we have a bit of a collapse.

Which is the frustrating part, we can score a great try and then let in a try that an under 10's team would be ashamed of.

I suppose the hope is we get more consistent, plenty of time but we can't fall too far down the pecking order, top 2 is what we need to aim for.
