New Home for Hull FC : Tue Aug 06, 2024 11:30 am
Some positive news. It's obviously just a pipe dream but Hull could probably squeeze in a 15000 all seater stadium/sports village on the land just north or Inglemire Lane in collaboration with the right stakeholders. :D

Why on earth would you want our home ground in north Hull and not west hull?

I know it’s only tongue in cheek but in general I don’t see the obsession with this 15K stadium stuff especially somewhere like Inglemire lane, think people are falling for this Rovers nonsense that you can only have success if you own a bit of land. Rovers are going well because they’re buying top players because they’ve got backers with money. Wigan had plenty of success joint tenants with a football team.

Assuming we take Adam on his word and the new lease is all but agreed get things right on the field and playing in a bigger stadium is not an issue. Been some electric atmosphere games and big crowds when we actually had a decent side.

We don't need to move from the KC but I do struggle to see why people would have an issue if we was to move out of west hull. As long as we wasn't to stray too far I I don't see any issues

Back on topic is they any images of the new gaff online anywhere yet?

 If it's west of the river...

Obsession is a strong word. Don't think I've ever raised the subject before. That said, we are the poor relations in our current home with seemingly little or no say in matters that have a direct impact on the club.

It's on topic!

I did acknowledge that your post was clearly tongue in cheek and said the post wasn’t aimed at you but about the general clamour that’s crept in for this smaller stadium recently.

Again through not aimed at you particularly but I’ve seen a lot of people claim that we can’t make important decisions at the stadium but I’m honestly curious as what these decisions we have been prevented making are? City have had to move games to accommodate us recently, we’ve got the clubs preferred Saturday afternoon kick off time and AP seems happy with the situation. There’s the laying of the new pitch in our season, but it’s well documented that we didn’t pay towards it so it’s fair enough. Just seems to me people like to make a mountain out of a molehill sometimes.

Obviously in an ideal world we’d have our own stadium, but in this climate you think it would be about £50 million at least if not more to build from scratch. That’s a huge investment of money we’ll never likely to have just so we can choose what Lager to sell on the concourse or hang a few pictures up or whatever issues people have with the current stadium.

IMO producing players like Wigan, St Helen’s and Leeds have over the years should be a bigger priority, and hopefully this helps with that.

Someone from the club told me years ago that a high percentage of our fanbase live on Bransholme (many families moved there from Hessle Road when it opened) so it's not actually the worst location in town. The Avenues and Cottingham will also have a good amount of our supporters.

Unless we find a multi millionaire who's had a few impact head injuries and wants to lose all the fortune on RL it isn't happening though :)

Some Hull and City fans are far too negative about the stadium. Without it being built Pearson and Hetherington wouldn't have bought the teams and there was a chance one or both would have gone bust. Since it opened we've had 3 CC wins and City have had 3 spells in the Premier League. And also Grand Final and FA Cup final defeat too.

Yes it's too big but the big issue with the atmosphere is how poor we are. It has been noisy in the past, particularly in the 00s when it felt like we were a growing club going places.

The reason Rovers have backers with money is because the club owns the ground and surrounding land. But don't forget that Neil Hudgell owns more than 75% of the shares so is still effectively the sole owner. The reason that Sewell and Kilburn were attracted is the development opportunities that are on offer.

Craven Park is going to be developed bit by bit over the years and Sewell Group and MKM (Kilburn joint owner) will play a major role. Also there are 7 pockets of land one of which already has planning permission for housing.

Of course Rovers do also have multi millionaire James McNicol son of former chairman who is ploughing in money simply because he is a supporter.

Owning the ground means that Rovers collect every single penny that is generated. Rovers are now attracting bigger crowds than Hull FC anyway so are miles ahead in terms of matchday income.

As Adam Pearson said after Rovers purchased the stadium 'I can only envy Hull Kingston Rovers'.
