.. and maybe the reason why he didn't get one. The OBE was for services to charity.

I would have thought as probably the most decorated player in his sport for a generation and his monumental effort for a charity a knighthood would have been a fitting honour. Maybe I'm wrong. Not that I agree with the honours system which is rotten to the core.

As Kev received an OBE last year, he is ineligible until 2026 to receive any further honours.

I concede I didn't know that and defer to both you and ccs for clarifying the matter. However, the wider issue for me is how rugby league is overlooked compared to other sports when it comes to these honours.

There's an article written by Anthony Broxton entitled "Class Matters: why rugby league players don't receive knighthoods" which is well worth a read.

In my opinion Sinfield should have been Knighted last year. A remarkable man.
