This seasons recruitment cycle must be the worst in SL history.
We recruited 9 players, of that Pele, Brown and Diakhate have already gone.
Tindall, Okunbor and probably Walker will be gone too.
Throw in us paying off Hoy. Sutcliffe is leaving a season early too. I've probably missed some, crazy 12/24 months
What makes it even worse was they had time to plan. High earners such as Clifford, Taylor and Satae all announced they were going months before the end of the season. It wasn't like that time Mick Crocker had his visa rejected in the off season so plans had to be ripped up.
Add in Radders giving long deals to his mates (finally at the end of that now at last) and Hodgson chipping in with some overseas dross and it's no wonder we are where are
I'm not sure how much I buy the location line from Smith, Rovers have recruited JWH, Tom Davies, May, Kenny Dowell, Hiku,.Opaic amongst other quality signings in recent years, if a club is ambitious enough and pays enough I'd say location isn't a massive factor in deciding where to sign. Catalan aside, the clubs aren't too geographically dispersed.
There was a rackful of Pele 10 t-shirts in the stadium shop on Saturday so I guess they'll be going to landfill.
Looked an interesting signing at the time but he's proved to be another dud right from the start.
Fair play to Myler who is certainly shaking things up in getting rid of poor performers. Whether the incoming players are an improvement remains to be seen of course.

Club overhyped him giving him the no.10 shirt and all the Pele marketing, if he was to be a project player, build him up as that , not as Taylor/Sataes replacement, as the pressure is immediately on when he doesn't perform

It's true that domestic players (and coaches) do seem to get homesick crossing the pennines and that's a challenge but for overseas players I fail to see how it's an issue, Britain is tiny compared to Australia driving the M62 would seem a short trip to them.
Tony also contradicted himself in the interview by saying SKD joined Rovers for lower salary than he was worth..so wages were low, location poor, club in the Championship a couple of years earlier but he still convinced him to join?? What was the problem convincing people to come to FC then?
