No replacement coming in, Briscoe to be first choice winger. Sorry, but:

Tansey
Briscoe
Hall
Yeaman
Calderwood

compared to

O'Meley
Berrigan
Cusack
Lauaki
Tickle
Fitzgibbon

means we're spending too much on the pack and not enough on the outside backs IMO. Having a bit of a sulk now. :(

My fingers are cold which delayed my posting.

I agree with you that the squad lacks experience in the back line. Unfortunately injuries will happen at some point, we just need them to be at a minimum.

Hopefully, it may be the making of Hall and Briscoe.

It's a big ask. Raynor was arrested over this in August 2008 and has had a serious injury. Whilst I agree it's the right decision to get rid, I just think that the timing of it, coupled with overloading our pack and using every quota space on the forwards, have been mistakes. IMO a solid and experienced but unspectacular overseas back like Domic would have done.

it's mistake in hindsight IMO...but at the time of signing sam moa, i was hopeful we'd get him signed as i think he'll progress to be an even better player and with cusack & fitzy nearing retirement i wanted us to gurantee a good pack for the future. but now we're very thin in the backs and we'll have to hope for luck with injuries as well as rely on a lot of game time from briscoe and the younger less experienced players. i think the squad is an unknown quantity until we've played a fair few games..

Enjoyed seeing him flying down the wing, when Yeaman did pass it. Sounds like greed has got the better of him and racist charge did him no favours. Looking forward to seeing the new flyers but will cost me a new rugby shirt for my son- will await the new name until mid season- think Briscoe will be a better centre.

but then you could also argue that with a dominant pack the backs get more space.

i'd like another centre/winger in the squad, but I'm not despondent if we aren't getting one. And who knows who will become available mid season (particularly with the financial difficulties at some clubs)
