yep sorry it was 14-12 (hard to remember sometimes) and i now remember thinking he should run it.
I will agree to disagree RE Calderwood, but i just feel at times he is too flat in the line and would benefit a lot more if he stood even just a yard deeper.

From where i was sat in the east the drop goal we took looked over. And Tickles last conversion attempt was very unlucky indeed when it hit the post i thought it was gonna sneak inside but alas no

Not sure we had a penalty to go 20-12 up, think score was 14-12, anyway lets not take anything away from Cas, they wanted it more, as showed at the end when hooter went, you'ed have thought they'ed won GF and Cup on same night.

it was sad to see that we went back to the 2008 attack of barge it up the middle as well. People keep putting Calderwood down, but he is lucky if he sees one pass a game and even thats usually a poor one near touch.

I think we are in need of reinforcements now, at least a quarter of our salary cap must be on the sidelines or awaiting a Visa and it began to show tonight.

Good summary. I know I'm approaching stalker status in my hero worship of Dowes this season, but, stupid offload aside, I agree with Agar that he was our standout player again tonight. Him and Cusack are being overused and we need to spread the load with more minutes from Thackray and Moa. I agree that Washy might have brought something different but Lee did OK again. I'm not too despondent at the manner of the defeat and Cas looked good, it's just the frustration is compounded by the missed opportunity to go top. Big test of character next week and a nice 8 day turnaround.

You can see he is getting frustrated at not getting ball though. That was topped off by him running to the opposite side to get it. We are not playing to his strengths which is frustrating. Put this guy through a gap or stand the ball up in goal and he will get hatfuls of tries. At the minute he is just being expected to run the ball in all the time and act as Yeamans dummy runner.

I agree, our backs did more running from dummy half tonight then the forwards made runs (or it seemed that way)
The fact the forwards didn;t make the platform for the backs to perform meant the backs went looking for it more as well.

When we were completing our sets and not giving away penalties Cas where struggling to make the Half way line. All there tries came on the back of penalties or mistakes.

Also I think tickle was unlucky to have one of his conversions dissallowed. to me it looked like it went over. The ball hit the top of the upright and landed in the in goal, surely this means it must have bounced insde the post, if it had hit the outside it would have landed in field.

Can't disagree with any of that, and I do believe if Yeaman had given the ball to Briscoe we would have gone on to win quite comfortably

We thought it was from the South/East corner but as the people sat directly behind the goal weren't going mental at Halibut then we presumed it had missed!!

Never even noticed the South stand lot (note to self check other sections after a drop goal or goal kick )


Before anyone takes it the wrong way, i mean i don't pay much attention to them during the game not that they weren't noticable.
