Although they are being a bit drama Queen about it, they are not far wrong.
Yes, I'm not taking it too seriously Poptart. I've been to Widnes since the 70's and it has rarely provided me with much aesthetic pleasure, just skilled me up on how to minimise the risk of getting a half brick on my lap whilst travelling on the speccie coach (the tip is ALWAYS pick a seat that isn't on the pavement side).
Some of the comments make me laugh, particularly the gloating on ground improvements which (as some posters recognise) was as much to do with the willingness of Halton Council to support the improvements as it was the skilful financial guile of the Vikings Management Team. If Widnes RLFC had been playing in the Wakefield District, they would have still been enjoying the concrete bunker admission huts of Naughton Park and the rat-run ginnels around the ground which were most loved by the local scouse youth. That is a fact.
No, good luck to them, but for them to look down on us like they are Brisbane Broncos beggars belief. They do seem to have short memories but that's probably due to the chemical works at Ellesmere Port.
All joking aside, I hope for a good game on Sunday with piece and harmony on the terraces and 2 points in our back pockets to take over the common in a fortnight.
