"Arguably the best Rugby League side certainly in the last 40 years!" Phil Clarke.

We played like that last week as well. Guess what? We've got 4 points and are top of the league! And they reckon SL is getting more competitive!

PS Lazenby Cup? 1-1!

obst was injured in the warm up. no idea why as yet.
atkins was difficult to handle last night, looks to have really bulked up over the close season.
an enjoyable game between 2 injury hit teams and we had more strength in depth,as you might expect. both sides will improve i would expect in the coming weeks. shame that idiot in the orange had to ruin what was a good game to watch

Do champions make unforced errors with silly offloads on the first tackle that could have really cost us? Or at times go looking for the scrap rather than trying to progress up the pitch?

He may have talent, but he's still a lot of learning to do if he wants to use it consistently.

Not a bad effort from us at all, all things considered. Plenty of positives to take from the game when taking into account that everything was against us (including loosing our best tackler in the warm up) - positives for me include:

Atkins looking pretty good first time up
Stosic seeming to have a good game
Blaymire looking pretty assured (apart from getting skinned in the second half)
Tony Martin playing well (out of position) and even showing some decent pace
Gleeson having a good go too

Our main problem was getting the ball to the 3/4, where it looked like Atkins and Gleeson had a chance of getting round their men - but this happened all too few times. Pretty understandable though to be fair considering the reshuffle required at the 11th hour. If the bounce of the ball had gone the other way, that shocker from the kick off hadn't happened then it could have been a different story.

Was reasonably impressed with him myself, looked more interested in getting stuck in than many times in the last couple of years. Don't mind seeing a penalty for aggression, shows he is up for it. What did he get binned for, can't have been the tackle itself as I though that was legit myself.

another positive from last night for me is the form of Drew he was class again last night and the effort from the rest of the lads give me plenty of optimism for the season, if we have a side left to put out that is :?
