So is MC I believe. I have no doubt you're a fine accountant but trust me running a RL club is an absolute nightmare, I know this both from the Ted regime and my time with Featherstone.

I'm yet to see any club genuinly come up with a financial equation that matches financial reality to supporters expectations and even the most diciplined as I suspect MC is will get sucked in - even Leeds the games richest club don't always get it right - truth is under any other circumstances MC would have liquidated the business.

My point is that no matter what you hope our finances will be dire and the retention of certain youngsters and a few additions will have cost us and the equation that states 10 have gone replace with ten doesn't hold up. Likewise certain players such as Moore and A.Tupou are in flux at present and certain decisions probably can't be made.

As ever we will like all clubs depend to a certain extent on young/fringe players to take up the slack. This season I would expect Walker, Anakin and Crowther and to a much lesser extent Batchelor to offer that.

This probably sums up RL finances I a nutshell. To be fair to the club I think we're recruiting extremely well under the circumstances and many of last seasons long term injured will be like new signings.

Fingers crossed for last seasons long term injured especially those, Gibson and Anakin who have had some sort of knee reconstruction surgery, it is not a perfect science and even in the best case takes massive effort to get back from. I liked the look of Gibson and I think when fit he would be my first choice Centre. Apparently rumors from first week of training is that Anakin has lost weight, will be interesting if they plan for him to bulk back up or will they keep some size of him, I think this would be good as I would like to see him play a wider role.

Leeds have signed young halfback Cory Aston from Sheffield. You woild think that it makes them less likely to sign Kyle Wood as well.

If we go into next season with a reasonable hooker so when the big props get a fast play the ball we can take advantage it will suit me. If it's not Moore then we need someone be it Wood or Dwyer. Not sure who else we could afford but current options if Moore goes will affect us refer to Leeds Rhinos.

Don't personally know what the fuss about new signings is we have about 7 weeks till we play Leeds to get possibly 2 new guys in n settled into the team I'm happy with the signings we've made so far n I wouldn't complain if wood came then maybe a second row depending on what's left in the kitty n the Moore situation n weather tupou is fit enough for another season

Is Walker not a prop? They must think he's up to the job or why sign him and keep him?

Remember most of last year he was out injured rather than not being picked. Personally don't know if he's any good but I do know he is a prop

I think all fans but especially Trinity fans get obsessed by signings whilst ignoring what we have. There is no reason Walker won't step up and play his part and reach his potential - a lot can change from one season to the next and a non descript player can suddenly find a run of form - you have to have faith in the coach on that one.

Walker sounds up for it this year in an article in the Wakey Express.
He has been told by JK where he needs to improve and Walker is very happy that JK 'believes' in him to get where he needs to be to be pushing for a regular spot.
Walker is only 24 and you are right about injuries Vasty, in fact when he signed for us, it was because he had fallen down the pecking order at Saints through his 'luck' with injury. His talent wasn't in question at Saints.

Everyone expected Leeds to recruit heavily and try to mount a serious challenge for a play off spot.
Their recruitment has been very, very low key and unless their youngsters from last season suddenly mature, it looks like an average season for them 6th/7th maybe.
They seem some distance away from Saints, Wigan, Wire, Hull.
I'm sure their fans will be more nervous, relatively speaking, than we are.

What would a Cockney know about rugby league?

Re: Five New Signings : Fri Nov 04, 2016 4:03 pm
Leeds seem to have shot themselves in the foot with the South Stand rebuild. Until they get planning for the land at Tingley or Weetwood (I'm guessing no chance on that one) they are footing the bill from club coffers.

I heard a rumour about Caddick wanting to build on Greenbelt land at Tingley (junction of Thorpe Lane and Bradford Road - where the circus usually goes), but heard he is wanting to build housing there ? Is that what you are referring to ?
