Awkward to tell due to the positioning of the camera and there only being one camera.
It was given as a try and sometime you get the rub of the green..

I wasn't there as I don't go to Shudds - so for those who were, was it a truly awful game, or was it a combination of good defence and poor conditions?

And according to the always magnanimous Anderson in his after-match interview, Kirmo was "a mile" off-side for his try; was he?

Not that it matters much - 2 points is 2 points and I do love putting Shudds to the sword; once more for the treble, and a decent cup run!

Kirmond was off looking at the VT, but, he ran passed 3 Giants to get to that ball so it isn't the off side that was the issue.
We'd have still won

Finn won the game for us today.

Oh come on! He kicked 2 goals I could kick when I was 14.

If he was to be marked on today's performance for his organisation which is apparently his strength according to vastman a 3 would be generous. We looked clueless, predictable and unorganised in attack. I don't think he drew a defender before he passed the ball once.

His kicking in play was very good today, however.

He hinders the attack with ball in hand something chronic. Howarth is the same with ball in hand - slow at passing and indecisive. However, he was immense in defence. It's brilliant we won the 2 points but it was so dire to watch from both teams.

Scruton had another good two stints today. A player who I've criticised in the past. (Look Vasty! I do give praise when it's due!)
Was a very workmanlike performance. Other players who played decent were Sio and Lyne (another I've criticised in the past.). Lyne was outstanding today and looked a lot more aggressive than I've seen him before.

Think we need more runners off the ball and to back players up more often. I understand it was bad conditions today but too many times throughout the season do we fail to do things like support the runner.

Hope finn can keep that level of kicking in play up for the rest of the season. It was much better than games of late.

Can't wait for the Leeds game on Friday with Simon, Fifita and Moore back.

That's eaxctly the point though. The gaem was won by team defence and tactical kicking as well as the goals.
He managed the game with kick chase.
He put two kicks in that got us a try and a disallowed try that was close.
He kicked better than Brough.

He won us the game.

Both feet need to be behind the ball at the point at which it leaves the kickers foot.

I think that still clearly shows that Kirmond is onside, it's certainly not a blatantly clear offside as Paddington Bear is suggesting

And, it matters not.
As the phrase goes "read it in the paper" Mr Anderson

These "top" SL coaches certainly dont like losing to Wakefield do they

(only the Catalan coach has had any dignity/class in defeat, the rest of them really are sore losers)

Tony Smith was pretty complimentary when we beat Warrington at BV the other month.

Yes, you're right.
Smith also has some class about him. He can join the good (vs Evil) :D

It's a strange season - coaches of perceived 'big clubs' are digging deep for excuses when they're beaten by SLWBR clubs like us; meanwhile, supporters of said 'big' clubs have resorted to blaming the sorry situation they find themselves in on 'the worst SL season ever.'

Meanwhile, in this terrible season where refs are ruining everything, ourselves, Hull FC, Cas and Catalans are having a whale of a time; I guess some people find change very difficult.

Agree fully, change is good for the game and long overdue, about time Wakey, Hull clubs, Catalans, Salford and Widnes are in the finals instead of it been same old same old of Leeds, Wigan, Saints and Wire every year. That said would have liked the Giants to have actually won sommert before all the above get a chance, it has been well over 50 years since we won owt meaningful :DEPRESSED: . As for the Kirmond try, its a try end of !! You should get what you deserve in RL and Wakey have deserved to win both times we have faced em this season, good luck in the super 8's

Once you get some body's and recovery's back you'll walk the middle 8's IMO. Tom Symonds is a very good player and surprised hes been allowed to leave Manly.

EVENTUALLY, WE'LL WIN SOMETHING, ,MAYBE, IF I'M STILL ALIVE THEN

Re: FT Giants 2 - Trinity 10 : Mon Jun 13, 2016 1:15 pm
Anderson needs to look more closely at why a team with the quality he has in its ranks can only score 2 points against the side with the second worst defensive record in the league.
