I am not clued up enough to debate for and against if I am honest, but I suppose it was the lack of any solid foundation from York Court and the fact that the amount of empty units at Junction 31 and around that area, was always going to be difficult to sell/let.
Yvette Cooper is our MP so she will fight for this and can't be blamed if the MP for Wakefield is not doing the same,
Also this is a shopping park/country park, so was always going to be more appealing to the local area, than just a stadium with units around it (with respect).
I can only wish you the best of luck.
It is sad that some see this as a competition between the two clubs, which it is not, I guess they feel threatened.
However, on the points you make above:
It's true that Yorkcourt look like the bad guys, but they're a business, not a charity and act in their own self-interest and haven't done anything specifically outside the agreement. It was always going to be difficult to reach the trigger point for the stadium, but that has been made more difficult by the exclusion (by WMDC) of a large chunk of the site from this.
AFAIK the MPs for Wakefield are supportive of the development and have worked with the club since the election. The issue is with the representatives of the district, particularly its leader, who must not only represent the whole district fairly, but must be seen to do so. They have left themselves wide open to criticism on this point.
From what little I know about the Cas development it seems like a good thing, and we should wish you well with it. However, the proposed development at Newmarket was not just a stadium, it included much needed community sporting facilities, which could have been used by other sports clubs/ the general public.
Thank you for your best wishes.
