Interesting.

If Mckmeeken plays for England then we get 40k dispensation for 2025?

Same if Cozza plays for France that’s 40k.

Also I’d imagine that we have a couple young lads on 35k or less so that could be another 70k.

The homegrown player extending to 150k could also release some.

Could allow for a couple of players and a lot of wiggle room for us.

This an ill conceived bit of legislation designed to primarily benefit Wigan and Saints and allow them greater latitude to hoover up an inequable amount of the talent pool. Exactly what the salary cap is supposed to prevent.
Whilst we may gain some marginal benefits, the changes directly mitigate against the "parasite clubs" such as Leigh and Salford, so it isn't completely a bad thing.

I don't think McMeekan is ours until end of year.
So we won't get it for this game.

It's £10k per player selected, up to a maximum of 4.

I think if he represents England it will count for the club he plays for the following year. That would be us. I’d expect it to get 10k from his salary next season.

I must have read it wrong. You’re right it is up to 40k. I only skimmed it tbh. Well it’s still 10k and with some others it could equate to room for another player.

You may be right but I can't see them giving the benefit to a different club than the one he was at when he played for England.
Catalan will get it or no one will get it in my opinion.

Not sure why Catalan should benefit 10k from their salary cap in 2025 if he’s not with them. I’d say it’s dependant on where the player is as he’s the one pulling on the shirt and it references the players salary. We could both be right without further detail.

Catalan make up most of France squad so they’ll generally always have 40k cap I suspect so won’t matter to them.
