I've rated this guy since I first saw him in officiate a French cup final a few years ago. Was a pleasant surprise to see him turn up last year, but was surprised he wasn't utilised more in the final stages of the WC. Hopefully as a full time ref he'll add some neutrality to certain matches in the four nations tournament.
It will be interesting to see how Catalans fans respond to him. I've a few friends over there and they are all convinced that English referees are against them (to the extent that some believe that the RFL are using English refs against them because we - the English - don't want them in the competition.lol) When I try to explain that we all think Ganson is useless, and maybe Catalans give away too many penalties - they pretty much dismiss it.
Hopefully Monsieur Alibert will be shared around a bit this season so each team gets some decent refereeing.
have you noticed though how his call for the tackle count is really high pitched, then his subsequent call of "move" is a really deep baritone? maybe there's a special course on this at the RFl refereeing academy
