Owen moved to Real Madrid for £8 million in mid-2004 but was frequently used as a substitute. In spite of this, he scored 13 goals in La Liga and had the season's highest ratio of goals scored to number of minutes played.
But TBH it's a qualification similar to Liverpool's "50 reasons to be happy despite not winning the title when we should have."
In itself the signing of Owen has lots of justification. But compared to the expectation of practically every MUFC supporter before the transfer window this is a seriously underwhelming signing.
