I started a new game with Bristol City putting the database to start the game in February 2010.

They were 14th by that time so I brought in 11 players on free transfers (including Marcus Bent, Joe Cole, and Marlon Harewood) and pushed them up to 8th only missing out on the playoffs by 1 point.

I have continued my rebuilding for the start of this season with 10 more players mostly with free transfers, including bringing in Thierry Henry on a free. I sold 20 players for £3.1 Million and released a couple at the end of their contracts like Lee Trundle. Changed all of my coaching, scouting, physio staff.

Now played 5, won 3, drawn 1, lost 1 and in 4th place.

Yes I was shocked that I got them as well Joe Cole only wanted £11,500 per week and Henry £11,000, I'm under my wage budget by £63,000 per week.

Joe Cole was going brilliant until he fractured his ribs so is out for another 5 weeks, Henry has scored 5 in 13 but it's assists where he's shinning with 9. So Marcus Bent is benefiting with 13 goals in 15.

I didn't have a parent team but I've just got Arsenal, so might get some good youngsters on loan from them.

Boro have offered £5M for Joe Cole, which the Chairman has said is too good to refuse.

Bad to lose him but at least I'm top of the league by 2 points and clear of 3rd by 12 points with 17 games to go.

I still can't believe Joe Cole or Henry would choose your lot, were there not lots of top level clubs home and abroad after them both.

I find it hard to believe that Cole would take £11,500 pw! And Henry for that matter.

Just one of those weird lucky things that can sometimes happen in Football Manager. I don't know if me being set as a former footballer helped in anyway though. It's still been hard to attract players and when I have they've sometimes signed for other clubs instead.

I've won the Championship in my 2nd season, now to rebuild again for the Premiership lots of scouting is going to be required along with trying to grab some bargains. I usually buy loads of youngsters but experience really helped this time.

Where Cole went to - Boro have now been relegated from the Premier League and they're trying to sell him for 15M so he'll be playing Championship again if they don't sell him.

Free -> 5M -> 15M in under 2 seasons, crazy.
