Not a curse, but definitely an inferiority complex.
There's no way that Everton should have tried 'sitting' on that lead in the manner they did.....It isn't a great Liverpool side, in fact, the league table suggests both sides are fairly evenly matched, yet Everton always play them on their reputation, rather than their actual form.
As an Evertonian, its gutting to lose, but the manner of it makes it particularly disappointing, because this was an opportunity chucked away through negativity, rather than by a fantastic display from the opposing side.
I think derbies are approached in the same manner by both sides. Form goes out of the window, it's how the game unfolds on that day. Moyes is definitely feared of us, I think the only time you've ever dominated us under Moyes, i.e. convincingly outplayed us, was when Roy was in charge. Moyes always wants to win 1-0, he always wants to get his goals from set pieces and he very rarely goes for it against us.
I never saw the game due to work but my girlfriend's dad recorded the second half for me, so I seen that. We battered Everton and I don't recall them creating anything, they were dying for a lucky break or a defensive slip, we just kept pushing and pushing and got our just rewards. As you say, the table says there was no favourite for today's game, Everton are playing better so you'd think Moyes would crack on, but his side seemed to crumble under the pressure.
I'm now reading that he's actually died. Puts it all into perspective, doesn't it?
Read before that he'd died. Awful stuff. I know nothing of the heart, but surely there are ways to prevent/predict these things happening? Surely there are signs?

A good post, and you highlight why some Evertonians wouldn't be too upset to see the back of Moyes.
I honestly believe, player for player, there isn't anything between the sides, but Moyes's over-respect for Liverpool has, again, been a major factor for what was an abject display.
Liverpool were a deserved winner, but they were helped a great deal from some awful tactics from Moyes.
Messi now has 62 goals for the season. That is more than most teams have scored. 9 more than Everton have scored in all competitions this year.
mental, watching the full compilation of all his goals for Barca (up to a month or so ago) what a finisher, some surprisingly good headers for a midget too (shouldn't be surprised thinking about rome 09)

He's an incredible talent, the best I've seen in my life time without a doubt. The amazing thing with Messi is he doesn't look like a superstar or an athlete like Ronaldo who is perfectly built physically, but Messi glides off the surface, his balance is superb and he isn't just a left footed player anymore, he scores every goal possible. He is a master footballer and I can't believe he's just 24 years of age. Imagine what he will achieve in the game before he retires, it's frightening (providing no serious injuries, of course).

Hopefully Madrid will still beat them for La Liga, next weeks derbies a massive game but Barca aren't dropping points. Madrid were 10 points clear at one point!
