I think if you had given him enough time, he would definitely have proved superior to both Souness & Evans, who are/were both toss managers, though they fitted the RS's idea of a manager, in that they had the club in their blood, understood the pain of Heysel and Hillsborough, plus all that other self-pitying nonsense that a lot of kopites like to go on about when the world is going against them....
It'll be interesting to see when the first rumbles of discontent start for Rodgers - I'm guessing about November time when its become obvious you will be struggling to make the top 5 or 6 again.

Go on then, tell me how Roy would have been superior to Souness and Evans. They were both managers pretty much before I began understanding football properly, so my knowledge on them is fairly limited, but if you can tell me what you had seen from Hodgson in his time as Liverpool manager that made you think he'd improve us, I'd really like to read it. Go on, make my year
I have no expectations for next season yet, we've not even started pre-season and Rodgers' influence at the club will be miniscule at the moment. However, if the reasons for discontent were fair and justified, would it be wrong of fans to voice them? You talk about Liverpool fans whinging about discontent, I seem to have an annual argument on here with blues about Moyes still being good enough, yet I'm repeatedly told he's took them as far as he could and he can't sign a good striker. I know a fair amount of Everton fans who have longed for Moyes out almost every Christmas for about three years running now, yet at the end of every season it's the same old "Moyes will get the United job soon, etc."
We will probably struggle to make the top 6 this season given the considerable gap between the top 6 and the rest (I doubt Newcastle will have another year like the one they just had, but if they do, good for them). With the right ins and outs, rapid progress could easily be made, just look at Newcastle as an example, but Newcastle's success seemed to come from extensive research and savvy spending and selling. Can't imagine we've had anywhere near enough planning done to sign with such quality like they did, but you never know.
