Me: I'm still reeling from the news that someone is considering watching the 1st and 3rd game on Saturday and NOT watching Warrington play. It's like being in Shea Stadium when the Beatles came to town and deciding to nip out for a fag.

knockersbumpMKII: Is it FOOK, you're good but you're not THAT good, jesus you wanky fans need to get over yourselves, Beatles at the Shea in '65 was a once in a lifetime opportunity for some (despite the following years performance), you can watch a very good team in primrose & yellow play every week if you really wanted to but comparing it to one of the very best music groups of all time in an iconic stadia such as the shea is overegging your importance, you're not even the best team in SL atm

FFS - I'm in Liverpol on 6 Feb. Wold be nice if I could buy ONE newspaper when I'm there. At this rate I'll only be able to buy Nick Griffins autobiography*

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Ollie Holt has said that it's been confirmed that there was a racial element, but then again he works for the Mirror.

I think I am going to wait until I hear official word from the club. Either way, whether it be a coin thrown, bad language thrown or even racist language, yet again we're having to talk about the conduct of knuckle dragging neanderthals that I have to share my support of LFC with, and I am getting sick to death of it now.

My club's name is now mud, and while that will excite and make the Everton, Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea fans (everywhere and on here) very happy indeed, I personally don't give a rat's booty what people say. I will defend LFC when the time is right and whether the situation calls for it. However, these recent situations, I will not defend them.

Couldn't put it better myself.

You wonder why some of these 'fans' don't seem to grasp that it's not them but the Club who will be widely villified for the actions. There were 39,000 Liverpool fans inside Anfield last night, yet it's the actions of what appears to be 2 mindless idiots that occupy the press.

quite right DSM (but as a non Man U fan) why pick out Shrek as an example ? Footballers have been mercenaries since the pro game started - they always will be looking for the most most dosh available and why not ? I certainly would as i'm sure 99.999% us would if given the chance.
I can't think of many high profile players over the years who have spurned the chance of big bucks for loyalty with only Matt le Tissier the most obvious player I can think of to have turned down big offers (mainly from his beloved THFC) to stay at a lesser club.
I'm afraid there is no loyalty and there never really has been - it's pie in the sky to think otherwise.A good mate who played for a top three team of the time reckoned even in the 60/70s when the club wanted you they treated you like a king but as soon as you were no longer in favour you were unceremoniously kicked out....(ie.put in the reserves or sh*t on from a great height...)

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

I did point out in my original post that Rooney is just an example and is certainly not the only guilty party.

Is it right that the Kop started singing the Luis Suarez song during the incident, or just coincidence?

There's footage on youtube and it's clear and audible, as the game is being delayed as the ref and other players speak to Adeyemi the Celtic song strikes up.

I'm sure there's a plausible, cultural explanation for it.

Has it really become this low? A fan, possibly two fans, hurl abuse at a player on the pitch, allegedly racial, allegedly not. A stand of thousands, probably oblivious to what's been said further down the stand or what's going on, start to sing a song for a player, like they do throughout the game, and people are trying to allude to darker things? Get a grip. Pathetic.
