Very different now from then. Eto'o is older than Torres, Torres has improved so much since his Atletico days. Back then he was 'potential', a diamond in a sh'it team, since then his value has probably tripled compared to what we signed him for.
Torres would cost more to sign that Eto'o, seen as Eto'o has a year left on his deal and is a few years older. Plus, I think Torres is a better player now, but that's just me.
Can't agree. What has improved so much in Torres' game. Eto'o looked class playing for Mallorca. Eto'o at his peak was better IMO
And the money saved on Eto'o could be spent on a solid gold bathroom for the Sheikh's football pitch sized motorhome. WTF do you give a schit about value for money for? You get Eto'o and you're getting a guy with 2 CL medals from the present European Champions. You'd be getting the guy who just helped Barcelona beat United in the final. You get a guy who's scored 108 goals on 145 games. You'd be getting a guy who has scored in two CL finals. With Adebayor you'd be getting a bit of a donkey who's had a couple of good seasons at Arsenal.
One of those signings would be an awesome signing. One of them would be a "Meh" signing". But yeah, worry about the billionaire's bank balance and try to make out your better off with Adebayor.

It's hard really to explain. At Atletico, he was their captain, he had the expectation to perform every week, not just from his own fans, but from the media, too.
Since he's come to Liverpool he's gone from being 'potential', to 'world class'. Other than Villa, I don't think there's a more dangerous player, depending on the opposition, they're as good as eachother. I think Eto'o's class, don't get me wrong, he was awesome at Mallorca, but he's lost a bit of pace since then, and I wouldn't say he's as complete as Torres or Villa. Put Villa in Barca's side and I think he'd score as many, if not more than Eto'o, however, with Torres, I feel his style is much more suited to the prem, I think he'd outscore Eto'o in England if they both played for top quality sides. Eto'o did outscore him in Spain, but their roles at Mallorca and Atletico were completely different.
To make it a little simpler, I think Torres is a more complete striker at the moment. Eto'o in his peak was better, but he's not in his peak and Torres hasn't peaked yet.
True, they were a big miss, and Welbeck was supposed to be in the squad as well. Hopefully this will teach Joe Hart to cut down on the 'sledging'.
Even if Hart had not been suspended, that wouldn't have altered the fact that we were woefully lightweight up front. Walcott is not a striker – and even more so being expected to play lone striker against a defence that were all far bigger and stronger than him. And then taking off one defender and moving another into attack didn't exactly help to keep things tight at the back either.
The Germans looked a class above us. And Özil looked very good indeed.
I really hope City get Et'o, it would be great to see him in the premiership, I just hope he doesn't become another world star to laugh at City. I fancy them to be top 4 next year with Arsenal dropping out providing they solidify their defence.

I think that's a fair assesment although Torres does benefit from having a player such as Gerrard with him now.
