I hzad an excellent day at the May's Bounty ground at Basingstoke for Hants v Yorks today.

I was there as a neutral, the weather was lovely, and after an overcast start (I'm not certain who won the toss), Hants made a good start but then collapsed in the face of dogged Yorks bowling with Ajmal Shazad the pick of the attack with four wickets. Matthew Hoggard took an unbelievable caught & bowled to remove Sean Ervine.

The run rate was never above three an over yet Yorks maintained attacking fields throughout with plenty of slips and no third man. It was good hard cricket, compelling to watch, the whole outcome of a four day contest already building in fascinating fashion with just a quarter of it having elapsed so far - the total opposite to what excites the limited-overs vulgarians.

Excellent day at Old Trafford yesterday with Keedy getting a well-deserved 6 fer and Parry and new man Lungley sharing the other 4...after the start we had as well we were fearing the worst...just need to bat as we have been doing recently and we could put pressure on the Georides...shame it rained most of the evening and overnight to freshen the pitch up a bit for their bowlers.

Could whoever stole the Yorkshire squad and replaced them with more effective doppelgangers please not return them until at least October.

Thanks in advance.

Yorkshire 74-0 in reply to 250 all out.

Beware of GT. He is on the warpath after Mallender gave 5 lbw's to Blackwell at OT today.

First time I've heard the crowd getting stuck into an umpire for a while though.

I was going to refrain from commenting on the useless, biased Yorkshire t**t.

At least we managed to pull within touching distance of Durham's total with a wicket in hand still... Nice to get to the latest bonus point as well.

Century stand for the 8th wicket between Rashid and Shahzad puts Yorkshire 118 in front at Basingstoke.

With the 120 overs up and no more bonus points at stake, get declaring and lets have a pop at the home side with plenty of time left in the game.

To allow Rashid to get his ton? Next stop the oval?

To be fair, the tail scored quickly and didn't take much time out of the game.

524 all out, a lead of 274 and four sessions to bowl the home side out and win the game.

Oh, and if you're reading this Moxon, stop d*cking about and get Ajmal Shahzad sorted on a long term deal before he clears off elsewhere. The potential to be a genuine all-rounder, already averages 30 with the bat in first class cricket.

I'm trying to work out how we might conspire to lose this one today but can't, so they'll have to surprise me!
