And yet amongst the recognised sports are Bandy, Baseball, Boule, Pelota Vasca, Sumo, Tug of War and Wushu. Are these any more widespread than Rugby League? What sorts of crowds do the synchronised swimmers usually play in front of? Or the archers?

was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

The majority of people on this planet will have no idea there is a game called rugby &, if they have, will not be aware there are 2 forms.
Correct.....but a whole new audience will be exposed to the shorter version of one code in 5 years time.....I wonder what the Chinese and Indians will make of it, as well as the Soccer mad South American countries with little to do in the off-season? The USA, apparently (CNN) have taken to showing the 7's on FTA TV............AND as small an audience as it is by comparison with other sports, the recent RWC Final attracted over 800k Viewers.....as I say...small, but significant at the same time!
Union is the game that the majority of people on this planet associate with the word Rugby..........if anyone denies this they need their bumps looking at. RL is the No1 Sport in tourist friendly PNG.....and a popular sport in 2 states in australia and along the M62 in England....and...er...hmmmm....er........wait a minute...er.......that place in the south of France.......and that team in Wales...erm...oh...er...
I don't get the surprise. The olympics, the top multiple sporting event on the planet doesn't recognise kabaddi either....
Typical response from a know it all unionite.
All you do GF is slag our game no matter what why don't you disappear to a union forum and slag RL off with the rest of your rah rah chums and leave us in peace.

Wind your neck in young'un.....this is a Union thread where I have been lambasted for mentioning League.....as for being a unionite?????? standard and boring response from someone who has little or no understanding of the place RL has in the world....what next? A statement about how only 30,000,000 watched the rwc final? That's about 29,250,000 more than would watch the RLWC final between to same 2 nations.
I get it CJ....you hate Union, but don't fall into the same bracket as those who label me a troll for pointing out the failings of RL.......ergo, any news on the Independant Commission taking over the NRL yet?

I’m sure some will enjoy the fast moving action and free flowing rugby... I can also imagine what they will think when they then watch the multiple scrum reset, phase after phase battering, kick the ball straight into touch as often as you can 15 a side version
It will probably start something like “What the fu....” (or the local equivalent)
