A daft stat as United spent theirs over 12 years no doubt and City in 3.
Anyway, congratulations to City. They'd have done it a lot sooner with a better manager but they've done it. It'll be interesting to see how the owner's interest keeps up now they are champions. It could go a few ways. They could turn into Chelsea and the success means the owners turn off the tap a little, they could also quite easily dominate English football and make the Premier League a one club race. United can't keep up with them in the spending and are some way behind in terms of the squad quality.
Great to see Everton finish off the good second half of the season by smashing Newcastle, who've punched way above their weight all season and finished in a false position.
Sets up an interesting summer. You've got Liverpool sacking Dalgleish tomorrow if the rumours are to be believed and them needing to spend another £150m to turn around their slide down the table. I'm not sure they'd trust KKK to do that now. You've got City who can now presumably attract a higher calibre of player now having won the Premier League and becoming annual CL qualifiers. You've also got United who will be looking to fight back next season and will presumably have to spend massively on their midfield and defense to win it back.
As an Everton fan, it's that part of the year where we all bunker down and count down the days till the transfer window closes. If we get to September with Baines, Jagielka, Fellaini and Jelavic I'll be made up. The key for us would appear to be sorting a deal with Spurs for Stevie P, who has been the form player in the Premier League since January.
Come on, Saddened.
I know you do yourself no favours on here at times, but on your second line, you've dug your own grave.
Mancini is one of the best managers in the world. Tactically astute. Gets rid of the bad apples, Adebayor, Bellamy, Crocky Santa Cruz, Robinho etc (yes, Balloteli isn't everyone's cup of tea, aside). The fella is a shrewd cookie, and our media (who tried to get him the sack after the Poznzan game Nov 2010) are just begining to realise it.
What's made me laugh the most, was Taggart's desperate, last ditch attempt at mind games, who called Hughes' sacking "unethical".
Hang on, we'd gone a run where we'd won 1 game in 10, and in the space of 3 months :-
conceded 4 to Utd
3 to Burnley (who went down)
3 to Bolton
and 3 to Spurs. We couldn't defend to save our lives?
What were the owners expected to do. Write off the season, and hope for the best?
No. They acted, and got rid of a "hyped-up" manager who'd done allright, with an OK team (Blackburn).
In turn, we'd got a WINNER. Money or not, titles/cups HAVE TO BE WON. It took Taggart 7 years to win a title, and 4 years to win a cup, despite them busting the bank on several occasions. It takes time to win trophies. There'll be more to come. Well done City, and ALL our fans. It's been worth waiting for.
I'm a very happy boy tonight.
Just watched the Arabian match winning goal on You-tube, with the commentator doing a Bananarama song to Aguero's winning goal.....FANTASTICHE
