The salary cap helps try keep our clubs on the straight and narrow. 'Tries' being the operative word. Without it, we'd have more clubs going into administration thanks to 'living the dream' and there aren't as many rich idiots wanting to save rugby clubs (of both flavours) than there are in football.
Let them remove it as Leicester want and see the Premiership house of cards collapse. They'll be left with a couple of teams financially viable to compete in a European league and the rest semi-pro.
Wakefield lost it's union club because it wasn't equipped, nor had the support, to survive in a professional world. They won't be the last if this happens.
