What I don't understand is England's mentality.
They approach a five day test like a one day international.....why?
Get in and fecking stay in....being boring doesn't matter.
Use up time...take your time...run down the clock......graft....anything but flash at shots.
A test match over in less than three days (it will be)...and we won the toss?
There as got to be some serious @rse-kicking both for our team and the people who prepared the wicket.
One up in the series requires two docile batting pitches....equals two draws.
Barring our useless batsmen.

It could be anything if they are looking for excuses.......
They can't hack it basically.....can't get their heads around the mental requirements needed to treat every singles batsman's innings in a Churchillian way........with dogged determination.
It's just not there.
It's a team game and individuals should not treat that collective ethos with a cavalier attitude and unreasonably risk their wickets.
Once that happens the domino effect can quickly kick in.

Take the 2 truly World Class performers out of the team and look what happens...though I do think that the Australians bowled really well in that little spell before the close and Bopara was desperately unlucky, it still doesn't excuse the shots from Bell (yet-a-f[iu[/icking-gain) and Cook and the fact we were 58-0 and looking OK.

Looking on the bright-ish side, if we said at the start of the summer that we'd be 1-1 going into the final test of the series then I think a lot of us would have taken that...we can win at The Oval, come on England!!
